Happy Double-O-Seven!

Well, most of the vestiges of Christmas have been packed away, the last of the company has departed, the leftovers are kaput, the vacuum has been run. When it's over, it's over. Now onto a bright new year. I wish good health for all in blogland. I am having a hard time getting it in gear in the sewing room. Don't know what's up with that!!! My "on" button has been connected to the crochet hook lately! For some unbeknownst reason, I just want to sit and crochet. I think it might be because it is so rhythmic and soothing--and repetitive! Maybe I just need that after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays. I used to crochet a lot when my sons were young--it was cheap and very portable! Then I lost interest for many, many years. Well, a couple of years ago I got hooked on making those darn fun fur scarves! The patterns and yarns for crochet nowadays are just so yummy. Lately I have wanted to crochet granny squares, of all things! I'll post a photo of the afghan when it's finished. I'm thinking of calling it, "The Sixties Called"!!! I also love crocheting those cute little flowers to pin on a purse or jacket. And I want to get involved with a group here in KC that knits and crochets caps and blankies for preemies at a children's hospital. Then there is that Q-hook afghan I started last winter... I fear that my yarn stash will soon rival my fabric stash. Oh, brother.

there is definately something soothing about knitting and crocheting and yarn - I felt that way after our big storm which was what prompted my little knitting jag - I think I might be done now :)

The crochet bug has bitten me lately too. But somehow with me it never lasts all that long.

What does it matter what you are creating as long as you are creating? Seems totally understandable to me that you are enjoying your crocheting. I say go for it as long as that muse is singing to you. I'm feeling the pull of knitting - I've not knit for years - and now I want to learn to knit the marvelous striped socks that so many are making. So far I've resisted but I don't know how much longer I can.

What Patti said ...

Creativity: it's all good.

I like to crochet while I watch TV. I don't hand-quilt and the machine is too loud to hear the TV over. And to just sit and watch a program? Can't do it!! :)

Same here...been crocheting dishclothes for Christmas gifts. :D I've also crocheted one hat. I have patterns for several other hats that I want to try but I'm not very good at reading patterns...so I say whatever creative urge is upon you, then go with it, girlfriend! :D Happy New Year!

Can't wait to see the afghan -- I could never master the crochet hook, but my mom was really good. Back in the 70's I had some great sweaters.

Knitting & crocheting are very Zen-like. Soothing, rhythmic. I can't wait to see the Granny Square afghan. Never met an afghan I didn't like. Last year I made several ripple afghans and actually kept one for myself!

Like Jane Ann said - "what Patti said" LOL Now take your crochet project, step into your sewing room, do a quick single crochet or two and now go back to your chair or couch. Relax and enjoy, you've now spent time in your sewing room. teehee :-)

You are being creative and that's all that matters. It's the fiber thing that we are all addicted to...cotton, yarn, wool doesn't matter...fiber!

I crochet too. But I had stop two years ago because of chronic shoulder pain and then shoulder surgery. Then I started quilting and haven't had a desire to pick up a crochet hook. Although I am the kind of person who can only "do" one craft at a time. Maybe some day I'll finish the purple afghan I started 3 yeares ago.

Happy New Year to you too. The new yarns they have out are really fun, but I am going to keep trying to resist. I do find that I can get so much more accomplished if I do what I feel like doing rather than trying to force myself to do something I think I SHOULD be doing.
