Crocheted Quilts??? Say What???
One of my favorite gifts for Christmas was an iPod Nano from my younger son! Love, love, love it. I have already listened to several quilty podcasts on it. I headed to the library Tuesday to look for a novel to upload to it also. Well, after selecting one, I just automatically headed to the quilting and needlework section of the library. Vanna White's book on crocheted afghans caught my eye. Brought it home and was just struck by how many of her patterns looked like quilts!!! Square in a square, checks, wedding ring, bear's paw, sunflowers....who knew? I sure hope to get back in the sewing room this week. Waiting for me there are: Birds of a Feather (last two blocks to applique), Jo's Scrappy Stars (3 December blocks to sew), the 2006 Calendar quilt (December's strips to stitch together) plus other myriad UFOs to unearth. Need I even make any 2007 resolutions???

You just sound happy in your post. I love the photos.
Is that the Vanna White from Wheel of Fortune?
Love the crochet pictures, looks very cozy.
Sounds like you had a lovely Christmas. That book by Vanna White sounds great - she's been a crocheter for a long time.
Good ole Vanna. Love the afghans -- they do look like quilts. Have fun in your sewing room this week *s*
Great pictures - aren't those crocheted afghans pretty?
please do tell where to find quilting podcasts

Vanna White.....who knew?
I can't believe how much those afghans look like quilts. I am especially surprised by the Bear Paw and DWR afghans. I had no idea that was possible.
I love my iPod too but I haven't listened to any pod casts - which ones do you listen to?
Interesting crochet quilts! The patterns are nice. Have fun getting back into sewing...I hope to after the 1st!
Verrrry nice! I think I like the wedding ring crochet variation the best. I'll have to search that book and see if it's in my library system.
Fun crochet patterns. Every time I think I want to take up knitting or crochet, though, I think of all my quilting WIPs and UFOs, not to mention the overflowing stash.
I love my IPOD too. Jen
Amazing crocheted rugs!
I had seen that book once in the store and almost bought it. Now a few years later I've looked for it and can't find it. Never thought to go look at the library! I think there is another book out there that is actually about crocheted afghans to look like quilts. And lucky you to get an ipod nano! I've asked for one the last 2 years and still none! Maybe for my birthday? I had no idea there were quilty pod-casts!
These are wonderful - thanks for sharing.. PP
