Border Patrol

That term, Border Patrol, takes on a whole new meaning when applied to quilting, huh? Past few days have found me adding borders to Chocolates & Cherries and Birds of a Feather. I am thinking about handquilting C&C with fans and brown perle cotten thread. I am not much of a handquilter (or machinequilter, for that matter LOL) but I have really been wanting to do the bigstitch utility quilting lately and this quilt seems a likely candidate. BOAF will go out to my longarmer. They both look, well, so FLIMSY laying across the bed!!! Quilting will bring them to life.
The last photo is of my vintage sewing birds. Finn asked for bloggers to share some of their olden sewing tools so I am obliging! These were purchased at antique malls many years ago when they were still affordable. Last time I saw any around they were going for over $40. Since I am trying to start the downsizing process, I try to resist such wonderful objects! In the front on the right hand side is a wee sewing machine oil can which belonged to my brother-in-law's grandmother. My sister is not a sewer or crafter so I lucked out!
March is upon us. In like a lion here in KC!!! A couple of family crises have limited my time for blogging but I am hoping as March moves on, that will improve.

Nice job on the borders. Love the chickens. If you read my blog you will know that I am really into chickens at the moment.

Those two tops turned out really well. Of course, as completed tops, they will be even better!

I love those sewing birds. I've never seen those before.

Your tops are great. I have some quilts I want to hand quilt, maybe I'll try some big stitch quilting.

Great job on the borders - I have stalled on a top at the borders and need a kick start. Those chickens are pretty darned cute - how fun to have them in your collection.

You have been busy! Both of those quilts look great with your bedskirt! I am assuming you planned it that way! *VBG* I love your antique sewing birds--especially the chickens. I collect chickens but have never thought that there would have been chickens associated with quilting. I will have to keep my eye out for some of those sewing birds for my collection.

They both look great with borders! And, like Sweet p. I don't think I've ever seen those birds before either! Too cute.

Cheers!

Love the birds Vera. And your tops are fabulous of course! Go for utility stitching the one - I think you'll really enjoy doing it.

I hope things are OK - I hate to hear of anyone having troubles. Lots of positive thoughts and quilty hugs coming your way from me.

Those old sewing birds are so neat - I have never seen them before. What a cute idea, I can imagine that the husbands made them up for their wives for Christmas or something.

The Chocolate and Cherries quilt is wonderful.

I hope things are better at home soon.
