As the quilt guild's annual show inches closer, it is time to set aside those twenty-eleven projects and work on some things for the show. Each year we sell minis and the profits go to a charity that we vote on. We are going to a silent auction format on the minis this year and will also offer baby quilts for show visitors to bid on. I decided to do Bo Peep. She is colored with regular Crayola crayons and heat set. Around the borders are yo-yos. I am still debating if I want to put little vintage buttons inside each one. If I can come up with enough, I will!!! I love to sit and color these little blocks with crayons. Very relaxing and nostalgic!

That is so cute. I enjoy coloring the blocks too. Your's is so vivid! Did you just keep heat setting and then adding another layer of crayon?
KC, It looks great! I keep reading about crayon blocks but haven't given it a try yet. The yo-yo's in the border are a great accent! :D
Very cute. It is so amazing that the colouring with crayons works so well on fabric. So effective for such pretty colours. Lovely.
What an awesome little quilt. I would bid on it if I could.
Love Bo Peep...like the idea of vintage buttons. Do you have some? I have tons...send me your addy, and I'll send you some...what color??
Coloring in can be very therapeutic sometimes :-)
You have done a fabulous job with the crayons! I have just discovered them as well and find it takes me back to when I was little!
Very cute! Another neat technique is to quilt something first (think flowers) and then color inside the lines - looks like your stitching was PERFECT.
That is absolutely adorable, Vera. I bet you had tons of fun working on this project. I love to color, too.
OH! Dh gave me a new box of crayons last year for my birthday. That was probably the best gift ever!!!
Is it really as simple as color and heat set?
What a lovely piece - it really does have such a vintage look to it. You have done such a great job with getting highlights and shadows in your coloring - just wonderful. I'd bid *s(
I live near you. Where is the quilt show and when? Would love to attend.
That is so cute. I'm sure it will earn lots at the charity auction. Your coloring came out much better than when I have done it in the past. What is your secret?
Thank you for the show info. This is the show I attended in the past -- great show! I'll look for your entry. (niteshadoe@aol.com)
It is so cute! I vote yes on buttons in the middle of the yo-yo's.
Now that's a cute little mini - I think vintage buttons would be perfect for the yo-yo's.
Hi Vera, congratulations on the anniversary!! Not many can say they have made it that long...truly impressive..*VBS*
Love the Crayola bo-peep. Haven't had a chance to try that method as yet, but it sounds like fun.
Love the roses, what a great color. And your hourglass or broken dishes quilt squares look perfect to me. I think you need that amount of dark in there. Hugs, Finn
That is fabulous, I know a 9 year old who would flip over that! Cheers, Tracey
