Santas
Since the early 80s I have collected primitive Santas. My very favorites are ones carved and painted by a gentleman from a neighboring town, Ed Gilliam. His work always brings a smile to my face. The Santas on the shelves are mostly his work. The Santas on the pie safe are others that I love and bring out every year. There are tons more in the basement, but I tend to pull out less and less each year--it's that old
"Gotta put it all away after Christmas" syndrome!!! Last picture is a group of wool Christmas tree pincushions I made for my mini-group. We don't actually exchange Christmas gifts but I always want to gift them with some small remembrance every year. Not much quilting the last couple of days. I had wanted to use my embroidery machine for a few gifts but it decided to act bad yesterday so it is in the Bernina Hospital. My Bernie tech promises it will be ready in just a few days. Fingers crossed. I hardly ever use the embroidery part but, of course, when I do want to, it throws me for a loop!!!

I collect Santas too! Haven't started decorating yet, trying to figure out where things will fit amongst the baby stuff in the family room, LOL.
I used to collect Santas - then they and all our Christmas decorations and such were stolen. Ironically, I made the PS Santas too and I made that Sampler in the center. I still have x-sitch but the Santas are long gone. Sigh!
Yours are wonderful, Vera
Wonderful, wonderful Santas. Your wool trees are great...what lucky girls in your group!
Cool Santas! I know what you mean about bringing less out each year. I used to bring a lot to work for decorating, but then it seemed like such a chore, so now I only decorate at home.
Oh, I love those Chrismas tree pincushions! Is there a pattern on the web somewhere? Really adorable.
The Santas are great, too!
A very nice collection. Isn't it funny how one year you start unpacking decorations and wonder how you ever managed to collect so much *s* You have very lucky friends to be receiving the pincushions.
It is so fun unpacking the decoration for christmas. To see dear friends again. Your trees are so nice. What a lovely gift for your friends.
There's so many santas there - I'm impressed LOL. The Christmas tree pincushions are a great idea :-)
I love your Santa collection, especially the one with the cowboy hat. =) The wool trees are super, how lucky your mini-group is!
That's a lot of Santas! They make a very striking display. I love the little pincushions, your mini-group is very lucky.
My excuse for not unpacking everything this year, only to have to repack is that we are going back to the UK in 2 weeks for Christmas and won't be back until just after 12th night.
Those trees are cute.
Love those Santas! I have an affinity for hand-carved ones as well. Its great you have a local artist to support. Love the samplers too - wonderful display.
WOW~~ They are wonderful!! (I too got hit with that "got to put them away afterward" bug LOL. For the last couple of years I've only gotten out a few of my Santas.
Love the Santas.
Happy St. Nicholas Day to you!
What a wonderful collection of Santas and I love the wool Christmas trees. Nancy in MT
Love the pincushions! You are just toooo creative.
Hi Vera, what a great collection of Father Christmas and Santas. Really some beautiful ones there. I have a few, very few by comparison, but I'm not a very serious collecter of any one thing....LOL..so I have a lot of quite a few things. Heaven help me!!
I have to say I was just thrilled to read your back posts(I know I've been missing alot lately) and see you really great rug!!! I didn't even know they sold strips already cut like that! What a great way to go. You are all set to go to work crocheting without the fuss, muss and bother of the cutting, tearing and sewing. Good thinking! And a coupon really helps the cost.
I think you did a really great job on accomplishing an oval. That's what I am currently work on, and you kind of need to work out the increases and chain length as you go.
Yours is a beauty, and you can say with pride, "I made that" *VBS* Hugs, Finn
This looks familiar to me! My mom collects Santas too!
Can't wait to your embroidery project. Hope the doctor performs a 'miracle'. Looks like you've got the Christmas spirit.
Are the wool Christmas Tree pin cushions a pattern? I like those real cute!
I love the Santa collection! looks so similiar to mine...I have been collecting for years. The wool trees are fabulous. Happy Holidays!
You are very lucky : with so many Santas, you will receive a lot of gifts for Christmas ! :0)
Your collection of Santas is just lovely!
I hope Bernie comes home safe and sound, I know what it's like to be without her!
*hugs*
