Inch By Inch, Row By Row
Worked a lot Friday and today on the Scrapbag Explosion. Whew! Lots of seams. But I was so anxious to see that design emerge where the 16-patch has the little triangles coming off each side. I know, I know--I am easily amused!!! I would love to have the top sewn together before next Saturday. We are leaving next Saturday for my dream vacation. We are going to ITALY!!! It has been planned for months and months but I never thought the time would get here. So excited. I have never been to Europe and love to visit historical places with lots of beautiful art and scenery--and oh, the food and the wine!! Hope to get lots of good photos. I have really enjoyed seeing all the neat pincushions that several bloggers have posted so I took a little shot of some of mine! The boiled wool ones on the right side are the ones that are used every day. The two magnetic ones on the left get pressed into service a lot too. The ones in the middle are some that I make every year for the Quilt Show Boutique--just fun. We are off tonight to attend our 45th high school reunion. I love the line I heard from a comedian on TV once after attending her reunion, "Who ARE these old people??"

Aha! That makes you 4 years older than I am LOL! :-)
How marvelous that you are getting to go to Italy. Two of my Tangled Threads friends have been there together twice, and really loved it. How long are you going to be gone? I hope you'll get to see lots and lots of wonderful things. The Chanquitera - I'm sure that's spelled wrong - is what they talk about the most. I believe it was part of a hillside village on the sea?
I love your quilt "in progress" . I think you'll love the finished product.
Have fun tonite.
Melanie
The quilt is coming together great! Enjoy your reunion, they will be saying about you - who is that young person?
The quilt is beautiful. I have been to Italy and loved it especially Florence which was small enough to walk around without taxis or buses. Rome was HUGE. We walked our feet off. I hope you take lots of pictures and share them with us.
The scrappy quilt looks like lots of fun - enjoyed ALL your pincushions, too! Hope you have the trip of a lifetime!!! Have fun at the reunion, too - no way it was be 45 looking at your photo!
Norma if you get any chance at all you MUST visit Venice while you're in Italy - it is the most magical unique place I've ever visited and the patterns in St Marks Basilica and the Doges Palace could inspire a whole series of quilts - it's like something from another world - have a fabulous trip - I'm so envious :o)
Great scrappy quilt. You will LOVE Italy, I spent a whole term there when I was at university studying Art History (too many years ago) and this year we are going to Florence for a week in October. Are you going to several different places while you are there? There are just so many lovely places to see, you will have the best time.
Darling pincushions!
I, too, am easily amused by the simple things that happen with quilt blocks. Yours is coming along great. Enjoy your reunion and enjoy your Italian vacation -- events to remember for sure.
I agree about Venice - on my list of places to revisit one day. The weather will be a little cooler hopefully too, which will make it nicer
Italy!! wow!!
What a wonderful vacation you have planned! Be sure to bring back fabric souveniers!
I love your collection of pincusions! Did you make the boiled wool ones? They look like "balls" of wool.
Lovely scrap quilt you have in the making :-)
Hi Vera, the scrappy top looks great!! I do love the arrangement of scraps.
I've been working on one in leftover kids and baby fabrics..but it got put on the back burner..of course..LOL.
Italy sounds wonderful!!! And the dream of a lifetime..hurray for dreams coming true! Have a wonderful time..we will miss you. Hugs, Finn
Wow your top is looking terrific, Vera! And Italy, even better! It does sound like a dream vacation.
Wonderful that your dream trip to Italy is about to become a reality. Have lots of fun!
Congrats on being able to go to your high school reunion too...
And, your scrappy quilt really is Great! I too love to see a pattern come together!
Cheers!
Evelyn
Your quilt is coming along great and your collection of pincushions is awesome. But your trip to Italy sounds truly divine. Enjoy yourselves and be sure to make lots of memories. Oh yeah, you don't look old enough to be attending your 45th reunion.
That is one amazing quilt! I may have to file that one away in my imagination for another day. You're off to Italy too? My parents just left for Italy on Thursday for three weeks, they're meeting up with friends there who have been doing all of Europe. If you bump into four Aussies looking lost, be sure to say HI! Be sure to have the best time at your reunion - super fun!
*hugs*

Hav a wonderful time in Italy - my weakness there was jewelry, and Venetian glass and..... Take lots of pictures.
Great quilt - I love it! Have a great time in Italy!!
Wish my scrapbag exploded and ended up looking like yours! That's looking great.
Hi Vera,
I hope your holiday of a lifetime is all you hope for and more. ( Guard you camera carefully; I know someone who lost theirs with all the photos too.)
I will want to see your photos and hear what you eat and drink and see it all through your eyes. I have never been there so look forward to your safe return.
Bon Voyage!! Alison.
Oh my, a trip to Italy would be fabulous. I'm so glad that you are going.
I really like the quilt too - I was just looking at that pattern in a book today.
Wow, Italy will be great. It's one of the places on my list to visit.
Keith works for a Danish company so I've been able to tag along with him to Denmark and London. He's going again in December but I won't be able to make that trip.
Italy! You lucky person. Having done Lake Como many years ago, we keep on promising ourselves that we will return, but what with one thing and another never seem to get there (and what makes it worse is that we are aren't that far away!). My Mum is off to Venice in 2 weeks for a weekend break - everyone seems to be going to Italy!
Life is grand when you are able to obtain that life long dream, have a wonderful time in Italy.

I'm so excited for you going to Italy. We took a day train trip a short way into Italy when we were in Monaco, but it just made me want to go for a real visit. I can't wait to see pictures when you get back.
The quilt's looking great!
The pincushions look fun too - I'm seeing those chickens everywhere!
your scrap quilt looks great.
Love your collection of pincushions.
Hope you enjoy your time in Italy. My parents have just come home from a 2 month holiday there.
I lived in Florence for a while- and if they're still there- I can recommend a few great places to eat!
Oh, have a wonderful time!
