A Little Scrap Fun

Just a quicky little top I cooked up in the sewing room in a coupla hours, a wallhanging made from leftover little bits and pieces of the Madeira line, a charm pack from the Madeira, and a stashy-border. Such fun to just play. I needed something to bring some more teal over to the side of the bedroom to kinda balance the Ups and Downs quilt on the bed. I toyed with the idea of a large flower appliqued in the center, ala Georgia O'Keeffe, but decided simple was better. I'll just do a quick meander quilting all over, bind it and call it done!

On a kitty note, we found out Thursday that our precious Natasha is diabetic. I had suspected something. When we returned from Mexico, I noticed she had lost weight. Being the egotist that I am LOL, I assumed she hadn't eaten well while we were gone because she had missed us so! But when she began to drink, drink, drink and pee, pee, pee, I knew something was not right. She spent several days at the vet's while they got her regulated. DH and I learned how to give shots (easier than I thought it would be) and how to test her urine (harder than I thought it would be!). DH and I have learned way more about diabetes, ketones, triglyerides, etc. than I ever thought we would need to know. But she is home and seems to be doing much better. Never mind that we had to mortgage the house to pay the vet bill!!! We now call her our Million Dollar Baby.

Even though our 'babies' have fur - we just can't help but do everything within our means to make them happy and comfortable *s* Hope your Natasha continues to improve.

Love your little stashy quilt!

Your coupla hours quilt is really nice! Those fabrics are great together, and that teal is beautiful.

Lovely little quilt - and a great use of the scraps. I agree - it will balance the bed quilt perfectly when you put it on the wall.

Our pets are just like our children, aren't they. I did even know cats could get diabetes. At least there is something you can do for her to assure that she'll be around a good many more years. Worth every penny in my opinion.

Ahh, hugs to the Million Dollar Baby. I know that's stressful on everyone.

I love the little piece you worked up. Kind of makes me want to do something like that - for some free time!

Wonderful little piece done quickly! I agree that some applique would be nice, but so would quilting and a binding.

Hope your fur baby continues to improve.

That is a nice easy project you did using the Madeira scraps. I haven't done a thing with my jelly roll of that fabric.
Sorry to hear about your cat but at least the condition is treatable.

I love the colours in the Ups & Downs quilt.....and your little quilt it cute!! Our precious pooch was badly injured when she had an altercation with a car (driven by my DH - he was devastated!) she spent a week in doggy hospital with lots of attention and several weeks in rehab at home and is now fully recovered. Thank goodness....I don't know to this day how much the bill for the vet and hospital was and my DH isn't telling me...we are just pleased she is still with us...!

The quilt is lovely, so effective and beautiful colours! I think it's so satisfying to use what you already have to make something beautiful.

Oh! I hope kitty feels better and her blood sugars stay regulated. Tough road! I know you you feel about your kitty. We have dogs, and mine also had an altercation with a car at 8 months old and needed very expensive surgery. You do what you have to as a pet owner.

I can only imagine how much that must have cost. Glad she feels better now, though. Hey, that Georgia O'Keefe idea was sort of intriguing :-).

I hope Natasha takes to the new "routine" in her life as easily as my Westie, Bogart, did 4 years ago when he was diagnosed with diabetes. The vet is amazed at how well is has done in all that time.

Your stash quilt is very pretty!

In peace & pieces,

Sherry
