Productive Day

Saturday was a good quilty day! I was three months behind on my Jo Morton Scrappy Stars blocks. I get little fabric packets for three stars each month from my LQS--you do the math LOL! I am now up to speed on these little cuties and have 30 done. The quilt is from Jo's book, Hearthside Stars. Her finished quilt is 57" x 73 1/2" but I will be enlarging it to bedsize as a gift for my younger son's birthday. Haven't decided if I will make more stars or just enlarge sashing and borders--or both! Jo's quilt has 35 stars in it. The stars sew up fairly fast but it takes me a while to do the cutting! The flying geese are made using the quicky method that gives you all four FGs using one large square (4 3/4" x 4 3/4") and four smaller squares (2 5/8" x 2 5/8"). Love this method! The tablemat I purchased at a local craft fair yesterday. A gal who does some machine quilting for me also has a business of selling handmade quilted items and appliqued shirts. I love her work and always manage to buy at least one thing from her every year!!! This is made from the line of Nell's Flower Shop (Moda). I LOVE this line and had recently bought several FQs myself! The lady who made the mat said she had just used 5" squares from the collection. Boy, aren't those 5" squares addictive. I also managed to hit a sale at another LQS and found that adorable calendar panel from Nancy Halvorsen. Bought that and 3 coordinates. Wow, shouldn't I be buying presents for OTHER people right now???

The stars are beautiful. I love the tablemat. I've been thinking about making more tablemats instead of bed quilts.

If you don't like yourself and treat yourself well...how can you expect anyone else too?!?!?! Love your purchases, sounds like you had fun.

Love those stars-I didn't get a chance to tell you how much I adore those mini quilts. Just beautiful. People think it's easy to make little ones but I think being precise in miniature is twice as hard-gorgeous work.

Oh, I love your stars. I bought a pattern from Lori Smith called Country Stars yesterday.
And the place mat is so nice.

Your stars are just lovely, I haven't met anything yet by Jo Morton that I didn't like. I think it's just fine for you to be finding yourself a treat now and then, it'll get you into the swing of shopping for others.

The stars are GORGEOUS! I really like them. And the little mat is so cute, and I love the way she quilted it!

Nice quilt started there! If you make more blocks will you have fabric from the line to match them?

Now that is the problem with shopping--you keep finding things you want too. My family used to put a moratorium on any personal purchases (except for toiletries) at holiday time for that reason. Like Dad buying a staple gun and pair of gloves right at holiday time--how dare he, LOL!?

dang it, I meant to say too who gorgeous your blocks are and the mat is quite pretty too!

Love the colours. Christmas is the time I buy things for me - normally I try to keep my eyes averted in shops, but when you're looking for gifts, it's hard not to see things you want for yourself

What gorgeous stars! That colour palette is so warm - what fabric will you use for the sashing? I also do my Flying Geese using the method you described - nice and easy and no waste.

The tablemat is really attractive - I was drawn to the shape of it.

I love your sawtooth star quilt. It must be my favorite block since I end up using it over and over! I also love the placemat you purchased. So unusual and pretty.

I love your fabric choices for your stars - In fact, I have a group of fat quarters that I've been trying to decide how to use and I'm saving a picture of your blocks to see if this might work with my fabrics.

The stars are gorgeous and I love the little table mat. I have a lovely collection of 5" squares that would suit this project very nicely! I've bought myself 3 presents so far to put under the Christmas tree - so I say go for it LOL.

Vera that looks like great progess. Congratulations! On the days you don't seem to get so much done just remember how well you did with the stars!
