Being the gadget junkie that I am, I just had to order the Clover Yo-Yo makers from Connecting Threads. They came on Saturday and I've been having some fun with them! Basically, you clamp a piece of fabric between the two parts, trim the edge, and sew in and out of the holes. Remove the plastic pieces, pull the thread like a shower cap, knot off, and Voila! you have a yo-yo! Great mindless work for TV watching. Finished 3 scissor jewelry beaded fobs for the quilt show boutique. Purchased some small scissors to include with them. They'll be handy to toss in the take-along sewing bag. I put some "I Heart Quilting" charms on them. Next I'll make a couple of larger ones for shears--if I can find some large lobster claws around locally. Scissors NOT included on those babies!!!!
Last week Blogger wouldn't let me post the finished Bo Peep mini so here she is now. The thermometer outside says 82 degrees and the sun is shining and the sky is the prettiest blue you've ever seen. Hope it lasts.....

gotta love those gadgets - look forward to seeing a yoyo quilt from you in the future :)
When we went on our retreat in Feb I took a large yo-yo maker for everyone in our group and we had so much fun experimenting and making yo-yos. Cute!
Love the fobs!
Bo-Peep is adorable!
Love those beaded scissors. That looks like a great project for a beady dd over the holidays, tracey
ooohhh, gadgets! I may have to get them, even tho I have never had the slightest urge to make yoyos before- but a gadget changes all that! LOL Love the scissor fobs, what did you put on the points?
Bo Peep is soo cute! And your fobs are wonderful! Where do you get the little green tip things? Pretty clever.
The yo-yo maker is cool too - I've never seen that one.
the yoyo gadget is an excellent idea :) Love the scissors fobs! xxo melzie
Any time!
KCQuilter has left a new comment on your post "I keep playing...":
Really love your Crossed Canoes! You have such a great sense of what fabrics go together well. Could you be my tutor???
If you can't find larger clasps, mine has a type of nylon string that is looped around the end of the scissor. I'll show you it if you would like and you might be able to do that on the larger ones.
Vera, are those knitting needle end protectors on the scissor ends? If so, fabulous idea! I have a pen cap on my scissors when not in use but that's much prettier!
Love your scissors fobs. I was so sad that mine broke the other day. I have to figure out a way to restring it with everything that was on it.
Hmmm, I've been denying myself the pleasure of ordering the yo-yo maker...so, should I just go ahead and do it? ROFL Your Bo Peep quilt is adorable! And I love your scissor fobs! They're great! Can fellow bloggers purchase the small ones from you? The weather has just been so delightful here in TN that I've spent the last 2 weeks outside. Alas, that will NOT be the case for the rest of this week and Easter weekend. Back to hugging the woodstove for a while. :) I'll just have to pull out my applique blocks again. :D
I've been wanting to try the yo-yo maker, but was waiting to hear from someone who had used it before purchasing. Hmmn...think it is going to be a must.
I love the scissor fobs -- I've got some beads that need to be used, might have to try and make one for myself. Where did you find the quilting charms?
What an amazing gadget for making yo-yos. Scissor fobs are lovely :)
clever yo-yo's!
